How to Turn a Global Strategy into Measurable Local Performance

The BRITA Italia Case Study

BRITA is an international benchmark in water filtration and sustainable hydration solutions. In Italy, it operates across different markets: private consumers, businesses interested in water dispensers, and food & hospitality professionals.

A solid, authoritative and well-recognized company, with a strong brand identity and clearly defined international guidelines.

The Challenge: Making a Global Brand Relevant in the Italian Market

When an international brand communicates in a local market, its content needs to become relevant to that geographic context.

For BRITA Italia, this meant showcasing the full strength of the brand within the Italian market, adapting messaging, language and channels to each target audience. At the same time, it meant maintaining consistency with the international positioning.

The complexity was high because the brand had to speak to three different worlds at once:

  • the consumer market, focused on awareness, everyday closeness and engagement
  • the water dispenser segment, with B2B logic and lead generation goals
  • the professional sector, targeting specialized food service and hospitality operators

On top of that, there was a need to manage social channels, grow advertising performance, run community management and strengthen the in-house team’s skills.

The Turning Point: Partnering with OTO Agency

BRITA Italia chose OTO Agency as a partner for its ability to implement — and integrate — different strategic layers:

  • the brand’s international vision
  • the needs of the Italian market
  • the specific goals of the different business divisions

The goal?

Build a local ecosystem that’s more effective, consistent and measurable.

The Strategy: An Integrated Model Across Content, Advertising and Skills

OTO Agency built a multi-level system of work, where every activity contributed to growing the brand in the Italian market.

Here are the different phases of the project.

1. Strategic Content Localization

The first task was strategic: understanding how to translate BRITA’s global identity into messaging that was genuinely relevant to an Italian audience.

OTO Agency worked on:

  • adapting copy to local language
  • culturally reviewing international messaging
  • selecting themes closer to the sensibilities of the Italian market
  • consistently respecting HQ guidelines

This way, communication kept its global strength while gaining local closeness.

2. Advanced Social Channel Management

OTO Agency managed Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn as a strategic tool, with a differentiated approach by target, content and goals.

A dedicated structure for each business area, which operationally included:

Separate Editorial Plans for Consumer, B2B and Professional

OTO Agency developed specific editorial plans to harmonize central guidelines with local sensibilities and different business needs. The plan for the consumer market focused on awareness and daily engagement, the one for the water dispenser segment followed B2B logic with lead generation goals, while the plan for the professional sector targeted specialized food service and hospitality operators.

Content Formats Designed for Different Audiences

To speak to these three worlds at once, OTO Agency designed differentiated content formats and series. This approach enabled the cultural reinterpretation of international messaging and the selection of themes closer to the sensibilities of the Italian market, increasing the brand’s relevance and memorability across digital touchpoints.

Coordination Between Organic Content and Paid Campaigns

Social channel management was integrated with advertising. The agency ensured coordination between organic content and paid campaigns, structuring different campaigns for the brand’s different divisions. For example, OTO Agency produced vertical creative assets for paid campaigns (awareness campaigns for consumer, lead generation for water dispensers) so that every activity contributed to a multi-level system of work.

Ongoing Performance Analysis by Format

In line with the goal of building a more effective and measurable local ecosystem, OTO Agency included ongoing performance analysis for each format. This enabled constant optimization, including creative A/B testing, target audience review and monitoring metrics like CPM and reach, leading to measurable growth such as +100% interactions on Instagram and +16% on Facebook. This ongoing analysis also helped increase the BRITA team’s ability to read data and its internal decision-making speed.

3. Multi-Target Video Production

OTO Agency developed video content for social and advertising with different tones depending on the audience.

This allowed the BRITA Italia brand to increase relevance and memorability across digital touchpoints.

The agency’s work included:

  • short videos for immediate awareness and attention
  • product content aimed at consideration
  • vertical creative assets for paid campaigns
  • technical adaptations for Meta, LinkedIn and different mobile formats

4. Community Management and Everyday Reputation

A brand’s strength is also measured in its everyday conversations. That’s why OTO managed the BRITA Italia community with constant, consistent oversight, handling:

  • comment and message moderation
  • timely responses to users
  • handling information requests
  • escalation to the client in sensitive cases
  • protecting online sentiment

Decisive work for building trust and reputation.

5. Advertising Focused on Real Goals

OTO Agency structured different campaigns for the brand’s different divisions, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach.

In practice:

  • awareness campaigns for the consumer world
  • lead generation campaigns for water dispensers
  • support for purchase-focused initiatives developed with HQ

Every activity was managed with ongoing optimization:

  • creative A/B testing
  • target audience review
  • frequency control
  • CPM and reach monitoring
  • periodic results analysis

6. In-House Team Training

With the strategic consulting approach that defines it, OTO agency supported the BRITA Italia team with training on advertising and analytics. This allowed the brand to increase its autonomy, data literacy and internal decision-making speed.
